Omaruru is a relaxed small town in the Erongo Region and is considered as an artist and a retirement village of Namibia. It offers a range of art facilities and cafés. Just outside Omaruru lies the winery, Kristall Kellerei, one of the very few wine regions found in Namibia. On the south-eastern edge of town is Tikoloshe Afrika, a vibrant gallery and workshop where visitors can watch award-winning woodcarvers in action. In an open-air studio, they transform pieces of weather-worn roots and trunks into sculptures of animals which make an original souvenir. West of the town lie the beautiful Erongo Mountains as well as the Spitzkoppe. Other towns in the nearby surroundings are Usakos and Karibib.
